Adjusting Your Browser Settings for Internet Explorer and Netscape to make web pages easier to read.

If you have difficulty reading web pages because the font is too small or because there is not enough contrast between the text and background, Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers allow you to change the font, font size and default color of your background and text to make web pages easier to read.

Please select your browser from the list below for instructions on how to make these changes:

Internet Explorer 5 and above

To adjust the font type and color setting in IE5, go to 'Tools' on the toolbar and select 'Internet options' from the drop down menu. This will display the 'General' settings for the browser. From here you can use the 'font' or 'colors' buttons to alter font types and colors. You also must select the 'accessibility' button and check the boxes to ignore font types, font sizes, and colors specified on web pages. To change the overall size of the font on the screen, select 'View' from the toolbar, go to the 'Text Size' option; you can then choose from five different text sizes from Smallest to Largest.

This will change the fonts, font sizes and colors for all web pages that you view.

Alternatively you can configure the browser so that it reads all web pages with a style sheet that you choose. More on that below.

You can now change the font type and size from this menu. Similarly, by selecting 'Colors', also under the 'Appearance' heading, you can alter the color settings for all web pages.

For a quick fix, go to View then Text Zoom.
